’تفسیر قرطبی‘ ایک ایسا نام ہے جو گزشتہ آٹھ صدیوں سے اہل علم کے ہر طبقہ میں یکساں مقبول ہے۔ اس کی جامعیت اور علمی وسعت کے پیش نظر اگر اسے مسلم سپین کی تہذیب و ثقافت کی درخشاں یادگار تالیف کہا جائے تو بے جانہ ہو گا۔ کہنے کو تو یہ بھی قرآن کریم کے قانونی مطالعہ کی کتاب ہے مگر حقیقت یہ ہے کہ مطالعہ قرآن کا قانونی پہلو ہو یا عام تفسیری انداز، تفسیر قرطبی علوم اسلامیہ کے تمام پہلوؤں پر ایک جامع دستاویز ہے۔ فقہ و اصول فقہ میں تمام مروجہ مکتب ہائے فکر کا تقابلی مطالعہ اس کا امتیاز ہے۔ اس طرح قانون دان طبقہ کے لیے یہ کتاب حوالہ کا درجہ رکھتی ہے، علما و محققین کے لیے علوم دینیہ کا دائرہ معارف ہے، خطبا اور واعظین کے لیے لا تعداد موضوعات کا خزینہ ہے اورذاکرین کے لیے فضائل و معارف کا مجموعہ ہے۔ اردودان طبقہ کی سہولت کے لیے اس کو اردو قالب میں پیش کیا جا رہا ہے۔ ترجمہ میں آسان اردو محاورہ استعمال کرنے کی کوشش کی گئی ہے۔ احادیث کی تخریج حتی الامکان مستند کتب سے کی گئی ہے اور حسب ضرورت توضیحی حواشی کا بھی اضافہ کردیا گیا ہے۔ امام قرطبی رحمۃ اللہ علیہ کےتعلیمی مراحل اور علمی مقام کا ایک مربوط خاکہ ان کی اپنی تالیفات کے شواہد کے ساتھ شروع میں پیش کردیا گیا ہے۔
Al-Jami li-Ahkam al-Qur’an (Tafseer e Qurtubi) translated as ‘The Compendium of Legal Rulings of the Qur’an’, has been very popular for the last 8 centuries. The basic objective of this book was to deduce juristic injunctions and rulings from the Qur’an yet, while doing so, Imam Al-Qurtubi has also provided the explanation of verses, research into difficult words, discussion of diacritical marks and elegance of style and composition, and related Traditions and Reports in his Tafsir, and quite ably so. This book is in in 10 Volumes which is translated from Arabic into Urdu Language by one of the publishing houses in Pakistan in 2012.
Comprehensive interpretation of the Holy Qur’an requires consideration of every aspect – spiritual, legal, linguistic, social, and others. While this Tafsir covers them all, imam al-Qurtubi was especially concerned to bring out the legal implications of the Qur’anic text, and his work emphasises the practical applications of the Revelation. This gives it particular relevance to those Interested in learning how the Qur’an informs the daily life of the Muslims. on both the individual and the communal level. The author also explains the diversity of the Various readings (qira’at) and explores the alternative interpretations that can be derived from them.
About Imam Qurtubi
Imam Abu ‘Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Abu Bakr al-Ansari al-Qurtubi, was born in Cordoba, Spain, at the summlt of Its great period of Islamic civilisation. He was an eminent Maliki scholar who specialised in fiqh and Hadith. The breadth and depth of his scholarship are evident in his writings. The most famous of then his tasfir al Jami’ li-ahkam al-Qur’an.
Imam al-Qirtubi was a man of great modesty who disdained worldly honors and throughout his life wore the simple gown and cap of the ordinary Muslim. He traveled from Spain to the East and settled in Munya Abi’l-Khusavb in Upper Egypt, where he died in 671H/ 1273. May Allah swt have mercy on his soul.
