Dr. Hatem Bazian is an expert in religious, political, and global studies, focusing on Islamic Law, Awqaf and Fatawa Texts, and Classical Arabic. He has specialized knowledge in areas such as Palestine, Islamophobia, Diaspora, Comparative Immigration, and American Law and Society. His expertise extends to Arab and Arab American Studies, Race Theory and History, Colonialism, Post-Colonial and De-colonial Studies, as well as Ethnic Studies, Multi-Cultural and Cross-Cultural Studies. Dr. Bazian’s work also encompasses International Relations, Globalization, Social and Political Movements, Comparative Liberation Theologies, Languages, and Media. He serves as a professor in the Departments of Near Eastern and Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Additionally, he is an adviser at the university’s Religion, Politics, and Globalization Center. Prior to his current role at Zaytuna College, Dr. Bazian has taught at UC Berkeley School of Law, UC Davis, San Francisco State University, Graduate Theological Union, Saint Mary’s College, and Diablo Valley College.
