The last 10 days of Ramadan are to free oneself from the punishment of the hell fire. In these 10 days, Allah SWT has blessed Muslims with an extra ordinary special night about whom Allah SWT says in the glorious Qur’an:
Verily, We sent it down in the night of al-Qadr. And what will make you know what the night of al-Qadr is? The night of al-Qadr is better than a thousand months. Therein descend the angels and the Spirit by their Lord’s permission with all Decrees. Peace! Until the appearance of dawn.
(Surah Al-Qadr: verses 1-5)

Narrated by the mother of the believers, Aisha (May Allah SWT be pleased with her) that:
The Prophet (Peace be upon him) used to strive hard (in worship) during the last ten days of Ramadan in a way that he did not strive any any other times
